Joe Creech

Joe Creech is the Director of the Lilly Fellows Program at Valparaiso University, where he has taught history and humanities in Christ College, the honors college of Valparaiso University, since 2000. He has held the position of Lilly Fellows Program Director since 2009. Creech received his BA in religious studies at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, a Masters in Theological Studies from Duke University Divinity School, and an MA and PhD in history at the University of Notre Dame. He has written widely on American culture, political life, and religion, exploring gender, race, class, and religion in the American South as well as the origins of Pentecostalism and the intersections of religion and higher education. His book, Righteous Indignation: Religion and the Populist Revolution (University of Illinois Press, 2006), explores the dynamic way religion shaped southern agrarian and political radicalism in the 1890s.
